Possible 1990 300SE Purchase. What to look for??

Hi everyone. I am new here. I am going to be looking at a 1990 Mercedes 300SE later today. It has 162,000 miles on it. The owner says it runs and goes good. He said the AC does not work and that it will need four new tires due to dry rot. The car has not been on the road for about a year for what reason I am unsure. Its in very clean condition as far as the body and interior go. I will be driving it around the property a little to see how it goes. What are some things to look for on these cars? I have heard that the M103 is prone to oil leaks. Can you tell me exactly where to find these leaks, etc? They are asking $2,500 for the car. I told him that I am more in the ball park of $1,800 cash for the reason of needing tires and the ac repaired. He said we will talk. Is my offer fair? Too much? Not enough? Lol... Thank you in advance!

We are looking for a third vehicle for pleasure as our 99 Jaguar xj8 is getting tired. The Mercedes just happens to be a few miles down the road and thought it might be a decent replacement for the Jag.

I don't see much pleasure in ownership of such an old, outdated and obsolete car. It will be an unreliable money pit with little reward to justify it.
