As some of you will know, the “chrome” on the steering wheel shroud delaminating is a common problem. My 2013 c class is doing this and although it’s easy to remove Mercedes only sell a complete steering wheel at £1200+ 😱. Has anyone (in the uk) found a way of repairing this? I suppose I could pull off the “chrome” (tin foil)but what to replace it with.?

 

Well I sent off for some “wrap” In Silver to replace the “tin foil” but not sure it will look “proper”. I then sent off fir some imitation carbon fibre wrap and think that will look better. Now I have to up plug the airbag and believe I need to disconnect the battery, neg terminal first, but my car has two batteries!, another small one in the boot, can anyone advise on the correct procedure as I don’t want to have the bag go off in my face (and have to spend lots more money!!!! )
