Mercedes Me Connect - what's wrong?

I just bought a 2021 GLB 250 this past weekend and got the Mercedes Me Connect set up with my vehicle. It shows information related to my car just fine, but won't give me any option to lock doors. When I click on vehicle status, all it shows is the "status" of the doors, windows, sunroof, etc. If my doors are unlocked, it shows that they're unlocked but doesn't allow me to lock them. Other than seeing trip data, mileage, and other related information, the app won't let me do anything except for starting the engine. Anyone know what might be wrong?

I checked to see if any over the air vehicle updates are needed, but it shows that everything is up to date.

After logging onto My Mercedes account online, I see that I was missing information so not all of the options were working (including locking doors). Therefore, I entered the rest of my details except for one thing. It's telling me that I have to confirm my identity. I don't see anyway to do this via the Mercedes me App, which I just downloaded on my phone. Do I really have to go to a dealership to do this? What a pain.

Yes, a sales person at the dealership has to confirm your identity and ownership, and activate your account. If you bought the car new they should have done this when you picked it up, or same if you bought it used from an MB dealership. Otherwise, you'll have to go to a dealership to get this done. It might seem like a pain, but think about it. You shouldn't just be able to add any VIN to your account and start controlling somebody else's car. MB has to establish that you are the rightful owner of this car.

I just learned that the app is supposed to allow you to confirm your identity but it won't work. I scanned my driver's license front okay, but every time I try scanning the back, the app either crashes or the identity process starts over. What a pain in the *** to force a customer to have to go to the dealership to do this. This is something that they should have done when I bought my certified vehicle from the dealership.

I'm updating this thread as it might help someone else in a similar situation. I was going to take my vehicle in to have the dealership confirm my identity so I would have all the features available. When I spoke with the guy who sold me my car, he told me he could do it remote. Turns out, he was right. You don't have to go to the dealership after all! I now have all features available via the mercedes me connect app and didn't have to drive anywhere!

There are wider issues with Mercedes Me

Thank you for contacting Mercedes me connect.

As of 15/04 a major incident on our servers is causing a downtime affecting the Mercedes me App and the remote services.

Customers may experience some issues with their particular Service Activation commands. Remote Commands are likely to fail due to this incident and services might not work as expected.

Our Technical Department is still working on a solution and we expect a fix soon.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience.
