I recently purchased a vehicle from an out of state Mercedes dealer. The vehicle is a CPO 2018 GLE. It was shipped and delivered today. Upon delivery I noticed that one of the passenger doors was a slightly different color than the rest of the car. According to the VMI a door was replaced. Unfortunately this didn't show in the pictures on the website. Am I wrong in assuming that a CPO Mercedes shouldn't have mismatched paint? The dealer is telling me the CPO doesn't cover paint, which I understand. Do I have any recourse here? Contact Mercedes USA? Or is this just another life lesson 🙂

When I was shopping for my current car, I first purchased a similar CPO model from a different dealership. While looking over the car on the lot, I pointed out what looked to me like paint overspray on the top edge of the grill. The salesman denied that it was paint and invented some nonsense tale about something drifting over on the wind to their lot from a nearby factory, and against my better judgement, I bought the car. When I got it home, I went over the body with a light and discovered that the entire hood had been repainted. I immediately called the dealership and advised them that the car was on it's way back, and I would be expecting a full refund of my down payment and the return of my BMW trade-in. The dealer declared that CPO cars don't have to be accident free, and with that admission of the damage, I asked why the salesman had lied about the overspray. I got all of my money back and drove home in my BMW.
