Should I buy a 190E for $2000 ?
My friend's mom is selling her 1989 (or 1991) 190E with 170,000 miles on it.
It has been well kept and is in good shape. I believe the engine has been "overhauled" (new valves, etc). Original tranny, everything works.
What do you guys think? I don't really need another car, but I've always liked the 190s. So for $2000 and probably about $10 bucks more a month for insurance, I'll have a 190E to play with.
I don't think it's a 2.6 (I wish)
Should I pick it up?

You know, there is a separate forum for the W201 chassis on this board.
There are plenty of parts and the W201 2.3L is a great car for DIY work. It doesn't have much rear seat area, but that just lends more "sport" appeal to this sedan.

For a 1991 190E, the value is $2,500. This value is the same for the 2.3 or the 2.6.
Bottom line: $2,000 is probabaly OK for this car. However, you should budget some money for repairs no matter what condition the car is in.
