I remember you talked about how you were disappointed with Lexus' lineup and decided on the MB instead, I mean I think you made the right choice either way.

Thats why I traded it on the S Class instead of on a new Lexus LS

Since it didn't damage the A pillar, it will be restored. I realize I'm late in joining in on this discussion.

They were waiting for a backordered pyrofuse before they could power the car on to get an accurate repair estimate. Finally got that installed and estimate finished next week. Progressive due out today to sign off. What a process...

Repair estimate coming in at $80K. Looking like a total loss. I'll have a final answer next week.

Thanks for the update. If total loss, what is your target next vehicle?

Probably another S-class. I don't like the way the grille on the new 7-Series. Maybe I should look at the S8, but I've never been a big Audi guy.

Not a great time to be financing a car, especially since I just put down a down payment on the totaled car less than a year ago.

I thought about looking at the Lucid Air Grand Touring, but who knows when they'd actually be able to deliver that car. I also don't have charging in my condo building, so logistics of going electric would be difficult.

Are Panamera or Lexus LS on the shopping list?

I wasn't thrilled with the ride of the Panamera as opposed to the S-class when I last drove one. I guess I could take another look. I'm not a Lexus guy.

I guess they are built for different purpose though, Panamera I heard competes with the E-Class in terms of refinement and build quality yet still pretty sporty, while the E-Class non AMG is all about comfort. Porsche is also about the racing heritage. The S-Class is purely about comfort so... That said, I think a good suspension set up on the Panamera will make the ride a little more forgiving.

Actually I believe the Panamera build quality is better than the E...

Yeah, this is my daily commuter on the bumpy roads of Boston, so ride and comfort are more important than sportiness at this point.

I'll take another drive in a Panamera. Not much inventory available though...such a big push towards SUVs by Porsche.

Honestly speaking though, if you liked the W223, no issue at all getting the same car, unless you really want to try something else.

Car has been totaled. I got a good settlement from Progressive. I'm going with a 23 S580e. Should hopefully have it next week. What an ordeal!

Congrats, glad the deal is finally done with your old S. Do keep us informed on your impressions of the V8 versus the PHEV I6.
