2002 Mercedes Benz C-240
No Trans fluid
Hey guys thank for your taking your time to read my post.
i bought my mother a 2002 Mercedes Benz c240 and just got done replacing the engine mounts, and transmission mounts . After I had finished and since I had the vehicle lifted, I decided to replace the transmission fluid. I bought a new seal, filter and fluid. I unbolted everything cleaned the magnet pan and everything and reinstalled it. Here’s where the problem comes. I have never filled up transmission fluid on Mercedes Benz. I’ve done Chevys, Fords, Rams, you name it. On all those cars there is a red cap where you pour In trans fluid so I assumed it would be the same for this car too. I did not do enough research in the owners manual and online and accident filled up my engine with a lot of ATF…. I feel like an absolute idiot who shouldn’t be near cars. I got in the car and went through the gears and tried to reverse the car and it wouldn’t move but I forgot to take off the parking brake. Took it off and the car still wouldn’t move after revving. I immediately killed the engine. I had run the transmission without fluid and revved it 2 times for about 2-3 seconds. I’m terrified I messed up the transmission or decreased its lifespan. I’m not too worried about the engine since I remember using ATF and oil to flush engines in the late 90’s/2000’s. Should I be good if I just change my oil and filter? Did I permanently damage my transmission?
