The sunroof drains on our 2012 C300 4Matic clogged and the water backed up into the cabin, filling the floorpans. All of the wiring and some distribution blocks that control most major functions of the car are down there. It looks like shorting or corrosion caused faulty communications to/from the drivetrain. This seems to have caused mechanical damage to the transmission, torque converter or transfer case. Current estimate to repair $9,000 - to car currently worth that much or less. It seems that this is not just a known issue, but very common, across several models and for several years. Several design and engineering failures here.

Currently, our MB GLE350 4Matic is at the dealer for repairs to the center control panel that was caused by water damage that came through the sunroof due to clogged drain tubes. In order to fully diagnose the repairs required, we have to pay $2,200 for them to take the car apart. This does not include any repairs which they have assured us are not covered by our CPO extended warranty because it is caused by "outside forces" (read - water). I have contacted a class action law firm as I have determined that this has been an ongoing issue with MB sunroofs., The first step, according to the attorney, is that we need to prove that there are enough owners affected by this issue to become a represented class. You can respond here or message me directly. I want to hear your experiences!
