Poor service. My 2014 GL 450 started creating weird noise during left turn. My local mechanic said drive shaft rubs exhaust pipe. MB of Portland did motor mount job in Jan 2004(less than 17 month ago). So the mechanic said MB didnt do the motor mounting correctly. I drove only 1,000 miles for last 17 months. The dealer said i need to pay $250 inspection charge for diagnose and keeps saying it is an old car etc but the mount is pretty new. Kind of annoying and defensive attitude. I asked to waive the inspection fee but they denied and I walked away. I dont want to pay this extra $ as it is their fault. BTW i am the first owner of this car. I barely drive this big GL 450 as I have a Porsche, Tesla and Toyota cars. I will not buy MB at all.
Sometimes dealers will deduct the inspection fee from the repair bill when you proceed with the service, which IMO they should. An inspection fee understandable -- nobody can give away their time to tell you what's wrong so you can go fix it yourself. But in this case, since the problem is likely a consequence of the dealer's incompetence, I agree -- they should waive the inspection fee up front since they're inspecting their own work. This is why I avoid dealer service departments.
