Ml 500 Vs Gl 450
I was about to order a ML 500 loaded for my fiance but after seeing the GL I am thinking of ordering one of these instead. My dealer has two open allocations for these cars due around June. The way I specced out the ML it was coming in around 66k but the dealer would sell it to me for invoice. Is it possible I can get a discount on the GL. How much will a comparably equipped GL come in at?

Steel Grey 2012 ML350 is wife's
Well, the Syracuse dealer sells the R350 for $55,000 so I'd venture a guess the GL will "begin" at $65,000 and the loaded Bluetec could be $70k plus.

I don't see how the GL couldn't be more money than an ML500....
But that said - you may want to wait a few months for them to actually get on the ground and see how much you like the difference....
Could be close enough in price to warrant a change to the GL if it is that much better of a fit for you/her?

MBUSA is being pretty open about the pricing being low enough to take a bite out of the american trucks. That's why i assume it will be MLish, so you may want to wait. One thing, though. the ML is getting some real discounts while the GL will be spanking new and sold at MSRP at first. That will make a difference in $, but your choice. I'm definitely over the ML. If the GL does it for me then I'll get that. If not, I guess no Merc SUV in my driveway.

Close to $55k, bet ya...
Based on the press release from DCX, and show talk, my guess is that it will be priced right at $55, but have more standard on it than the other two (R, ML). That's the only way they can compete with the Escalade, which i guess is truly their target market.

Everything said so far indicates that they are definately going after the American SUV market - and that they will price accordingly.
Good point, that the GL may come with more standard than the ML currently does.... but they are sure making you pay for a lot of options on the new S-Class, so...?
I would wait: it is a time of change, and now is not the time to make a decision -- especially when we should all know exactly what is up in just a couple or few months.....
