Predicted RELIABILITY??
Looking at buying the GL vs a GX470 very soon.
Scared to however based on reports about problems w/ the M class tranny which is built in the same plant and has the same platform. Drove it yesterday, it was nice..
Only other option would be maybe a Denali or Escabling..
Thanks for any thoughts on whether you believe this will be in the shop often.

GX470 will def be more reliable, but I dont think there will be any major issues with the GL... they have really buckled down on quality control and it is based on the M-class chassis which has been out for a year.

Lexus had 84 problems per 100 cars and MB had 104 problems per 100 cars last year according to JD Power (2005). Lexus was ranked #1 and MB #5, which placed MB higher than Toyota and Honda!
If reliability is your main concern you should stick with Lexus........if you want a car with some character go for the MB.
