The GL definitely needs the rearview camera. I test drove the GL last week and I had a hell of a time backing up because the visibility was quite poor. The GL sits high and it is a loooong vehicle. Although the parktronic helped but the addition of rearview camera will help greatly. My GX470 has the rearview camera and IMHO, it is a must have option in all SUV. I like the ride of the GL; very comfortable, quite and somewhat agile for SUV of this size. The interior is well done also. Much better fit and material than the ML and the R especially. The R-class interior is pathetic. I am going to wait for the desiel version next year and see what the fuel rating is.
