Bluetooth Puck
My dealer threw in a puck with the purchase of the new GL. I think they are doing that for everybody that has a bluetooth phone and ask. I have a Razr V3 and it works perfectly. You can't read text messages on the screen, but that is not a biggie for me as I don't get that many. The phonebook is there, received calls, dial calls, etc. Pairing is simple.

Mine is awesome as well. Take a lil bit for my phone book to load as I have 200 numbers or so. But I have a cingular motorola razr and have had no problems so far. The best feature is that you can hit the "tel" button to disengage the connection if you want to take a call privately and re sync by hitting it again.

Hey that's one on me. I'm with cingular too. Do you mean when the phone is ringing, I can push the black "tel" button beside the screen to answer the call without everybody in the car listening? Cuz are some calls you just can't take with others in the cars. To this point I have just been rejecting them and calling them back later.

Hey Leto that's too much work. That works, but its easier to just hit the "Use Headset" button on your phone and switch back to the "Use Bluetooth" button when finished. This keeps you from shutting down your phone and having to reactivate it.

i did not think of that....most of the time my phone is in my pocket, so undoing my seatbelt, reching for my phone etc, vs hitting a button on the dash makes it easier for me..... i almost want to retrofit this system into my SLK, but I would have to add a phone system + the module....and I dont know if it is worth it as i paln on trading that early next year

The Nav is 10 times better in the GL than in my CLS55. Have you tried the disk in your SLK? I want to retro fit the CLS too, but I still have that old antique phone so I guess I"ll keep the old setup.

Not to worry. Your GL will come already pre-wired for it. The cost is about $350. Make the saleman throw it in. It snaps right in the upper part of the middle console. Service doesn't have to do a thing. My salesman and I drove down to parts and he picked up one and handed to me.

I did it a couple days before the vehicle arrived. He was so excited about getting that check, he didn't give me any trouble at all.

I need a clarification on something....
Do I need the MHI cradle in order to use the Bluetooth puck? According to this link at MBUSA I don't need the cradle. But the cradle page makes it appear that I do need it.
I realize that the GL comes preinstalled with the system so I only ordered the bluetooth puck but now I'm thinking I need both for it to work.

Nope...the BT puck will connect just like the MHI cradle. You can use the MHI if you have a compatible phone for the cradles that AWS has available or you can use the BT puck. On my S the MHI connection uses the cars TelAide antenna and will charge the phone. The BT connection will not do that according to the AWS site info.
They have a new cradle Jack for the RAZR which is $400...see this link...
