Depends where I'm going.
Mod question

Ok, I have to admit that I'm totally in the dark as far as modding the GL. I did some searching but couldn't find anything.

Where do you get the fins for the hood vents? How much? Stick on?
How do you get the nav screen to play DVDs or display a rear view cam?
Does it have an aux video input?

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi, Robert:

The hood fins are stick on and are available here:http://parkplacemotorcars.stores.yahoo.net/meglac.html. As far as the rear camera is concerned, you have two options. The first is to get and aftermarket camera and have someone hack into the COMAND system so the image will display on the COMAND screen. This will void your warranty, but it can be done. One of the members of this forum did that and posted pics. The other way is to get the same aftermarket camera, which is installed in the center of the rear bumper, and have its image displayed on a separate 2-4 inch monitor placed by the rearview mirror. If it's done tastefully, it should blend in nicely. As far as I know, the PE does not come prewired for the camera and so buying the as yet unavailable rearview camera set up will do no good. Only the one installed at the factory will work. Even if it could be purchased, I'm told it would not have the wiring to be installed. Sad...but true. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I probably should be more specific. As far as wiring, I am not concerned about that as it's very easy to run wiring. What I would like to know is:

1. Does the command system have an aux video input? Is this how the rear camera is setup to work on it?

2. Having the PE, I already have the rear seat entertainment system. However, what is the source for the dvds that play in the nav screen? Separate add on dvd player?

3. Does the sound for the front screen dvd play on the car's system or is it an RF hookup?

4. Is this the nav2dvd thing that is advertised on the net? Or just a clever install from an independent shop?

ANY info would be appreciated!

Robert

Separate DVD with Heavy Duty 1200watt power inverter installed. Great for PS2, Xbox on long trips.

The sound plays on the car's system when a DVD is played.

My local custom shop sent the Comand Unit to somone that modifies it to accept multiple inputs (DVD, Camera, Ipod integration, Nav, Radio). Everything works like you think it would from the factory. I also had a master switch installed so I can keep the rear camera view on even though the tranny isn't in reverse

ANY info would be appreciated!

Hope that helps.

Or is that going to blow something?

You can power Xbox, PS2 thru cig adapter no problem.
Nice that the consoles works as DVD players if kids want 2 different movies as well.
