I also have two car seats and I put one on each row. One behind the driver seat, 3 year old, and one behind the passenger side all the way in the third row, 8 months old. As far as the safety is concerned, I think it would be best to put both in 2nd row but I don't want to put them side by side so the younger one gets to seat in the third row. I am counting on MB for safety.

We will likely be only using the third row on occasion... So...
If it is just my wife and I and our two kids. The car seats will go in the 2nd row outer most seats.
If we intend on using the third row for extra passengers. We will move the car seat from the 2nd row behind the passenger to the third row behind the driver. Since the seats have the LATCH attachments moving them takes all of about 30 seconds.
