how is ulsd availability in your areas?..i plan on buying the cdi around may/june..will most gas stations, if not all, have the ulsd by then?...or should i be worried when i want to take long trips about finding a station that has it on the highway?...
can we use regular diesel if its not available?...

N-O, NO to the use of regular diesel, firstly because of the Piezo injectors which it will clog, and secondly because of the particulate filter (not yet the Bluetec system, but an advanced filter nonetheless)...
And, here in Piedmont, NC, i have had no issues obtaining ULSD fuel...i have even gotten on a couple of nearby stations about certifying the tanks, and they have since done it. Good luck, i can't wait to pick mine up later in January.
