Barolo Red is fading...

Not the color on the car but the color as an option on the GL (or any Alabama priduction cars.)

I had selected Obsidian Black/Ash and decided to change that to Barolo Red/Macadamia. When my rep tried to enter the change in NetStar, he got the message that Barolo Red would not be available after the end of February builds. He called the factory and they told him it would again be available with June build dates. Since I am expecting a late March or early April build, this was unacceptable. I changed back to Obsidian Black with Macadamia and all is well I hope.

MB is sure making it hard for their customers to get the cars they want without delays. The S Class delays caused me to buy from stock but this time it was only the paint color (so far) that would have delayed the delivery. You would think that with all the comptuer scheduling and inventory control they would have a handle on things but not MB...sorry we ran out of oil dipsticks...your car will be delayed

Yes, it is interesting. I've ordered 3 BMWs and in each case I had a build week assigned either the same day or within 2 days. And they have an automated voice response system that you can call into and get current status on your order.

Here I am with Mercedes, and 3 weeks into my order I still have a very vague idea of when I'll get the car.

And with Porsche and BMW I've never had issues with running out of this color, or this steering wheel, or these shades, or whatever.

Sounds like DC needs to make some process/software investments.

Does this mean a lot of people are ordering MBs now? I don't recall seeing this "shortage" type of thing when Schrempp was still in business.

Well sales were up both here and worldwide for 2006 so something it happening. I think MB's sales should have been much higher in 2006 with all the new and facelifted models that went on sale, but I think perceptions about quality, specificially reliability are steering some intenders to Lexus and BMW.
