We traded in my wifes ML55 for the GL. My first thought was the GL will be much slower and would not satisfy my wifes right foot. Boy was I wrong. Last weekend my neighbor and I lined up his ML55 and our GL. From a dead stop we went at it. The GL got a better launch and pulled slowly away from the 55. By the time it was said and done the GL was a car length ahead (85-90mph) on an empty private road. Ran again from a 30mph roll same result. GL won. I credit the 7-speed tranny for overcoming the HP deficit. Even managed to beat a Dodge 1500 Hemi from a stoplight no problem. Never thought I would have so much fun in a big'ol suv. This truck rocks!

That's amazing, considering that the GL also weighs much more than the ML55.
