Response from MBUSA on Options
Dear Mr.xxxx
Thank you for your additional inquiry; we apologize for the delay in
response.
As the distributor of Mercedes-Benz products in the United States, MBUSA
strives to offer vehicles that we feel (based on years of customer feedback
and research, market demands, and demonstrated interest in specific models)
will best meet the needs of our national consumer base. Therefore, there
may be models, features, optional equipment, colors combinations, etc that
may be offered in the European market, but not in the United States.
Mr. xxxx, customer feedback, such as yours, is always valuable to us; you
can be assured your E mails have been documented and shared with our
Product Management Teams.
Thank you again for your input, and for this opportunity to respond.
Sincerely,
Honora D.

Thanks for the quick response. If I could ask further...why is the
European
version of the Gl320CDI available with the ADSII off road package and the
US
version is not? I really would like the ADSII suspension features (without
the off road capability) like the ML 320 CDI but cannot understand MBUSA
limiting US buyers ability to purchase that option. I have been buying MB
automobiles for 30 years and this is not the first occurrence of such
limited US options. It is truly frustrating for the US buyer. If Audi,
BMW
or RangeRover had a diesel available now I would be in their showrooms.
A reasonable explanation and not a pre scripted response would really be
appreciated.
Jack

I did it for my first ML and it was an awesome experience. More info can be found on the on the MBUSI.com website.
I guess the difference is if you are trying to keep up with a H1 Hummer or just be content beating an H2. The Diesel has more than enough torque way down low. I could see it in the Gas model, as that engine doesnt have that low end grunt at all.
I am sure that they will release it one day however. There is massive demand for sure.
