Joining the club

After much shopping & researching over the last month or so, I have finally decided to get a GL450 as my new daily driver company vehicle. This will replace my current 2004 GMC 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab. I agonized quite a bit over the decision to leave behind the functionability of a PU for an SUV. I even went so far as spec'ing & tenatively ordering the new style Chevy truck in the same configuration as my current, except with a Duramax instead of my big gas sucking 8.1 engine. If either GMC or Chevy had their act together, and could give firm delivery dates & pricing on the new series trucks, I most likely would not be typing this.

Anyway,

My new ride won't be particularly loaded but pretty nice for a daily business vehicle.

Iridium Silver with Black Tex, P1 Pkg, Lighting Pkg, Trailer Hitch, Sunroof, & Running Boards. My salesman found this one & can have it at his dealership in a few days.

I really wanted to get the Off Road package, but there are none available without getting into a fully loaded $73k+. I don't want to wait months for a factory order.

I think this will be a great addition to my MB collection

Not that you will not enjoy the GL, but how can it replace an HD 4x4 PU in what I guess is your line of work. You planning on hauling rocks in the back? Dude, you've got the stones!

My HD PU will still belong to the company, a long time employeee will get it to commute with. I'll still have ready access to it for those times when I need to haul something big, heavy, or dirty.

I'm hoping to be able to pull my small dump trailer with the GL for those weekend yard projects, assuming I an find a competent shop to install an electric brake controller.
