Question General questions: Educate me :)

New questions...

1. What exactly is voice command ????? (newbie question sorry )

2. I know the P1 comes with hands free but do i also have to buy the MHI Bluetooth acce. ($350) to get my phone to work (I know there's a MHI cradle for $220 also available but I want the bluetooth ability)?????? I think i do but just verifying

3. Do the GLs have remote start ??? I don't think the smartkey gives you that... and i don't think the keyless go does that either.... I want to be able to start it from a long distance away to heat it up etc. and when you arrive you unlock it and get it.

THANKS FOR REPLIES IN ADVANCE!!!

Since we are asking Newbie questions, I have a couple I'd like to throw out:

1. An iPod input jack is Std equipment. iPod integration is an option. An iPod glove box cradle is an accessory. Q: Since the integration provides charging and an interface with the audio system, is the gb cradle just a nice place to put your iPod while driving? Why doesn't it come with the integration pkg?

2. Like KinGLy, I need clarification of the cell phone options. If you get P1, hands free is included. As I understand it, one has to get either the Bluetooth module OR the handsfree cradle to connect your phone with the car, correct? If using Bluetooth, any BT phone will work, but sans antenna and charging. OTOH, the cradle will charge and provide external antenna but you might have to change phones. Do I understand my options correctly?

1. Allows you to control certain functions of the electronics with your voice. Push a button on the steering wheel and say "FM Radio" and it will perform that function. There is more but I haven't learned all the codes yet. Navigation functions too.

2. All you will need is the BT puck for $350. I did the same. Works great too!

3. No. Not even with the keyless go.

1. You're correct in your assumptions. The accessory isn't much but a tray of sorts. I didn't even realize it existed until a few weeks ago when NevadaJack pointed it out to me. Performs no other function other than to hold the iPod.

2. Again, you are correct.

BT and phones

AS - you forgot to mention that certain phones will download the phone book to the Command console. Others won't. Seems most bt connections work just fine, but a small finite quantity actually will download/upload the phonebook data to the MBZ. Should be covered over at the external site for those that are curious - http://wireless4mb.com/

Here is a pic of the Cradle...just a fuzzy covered plastic form which accepts the different size ipod and sits in the glove compartment. No velcro or any kind of snap rig. $15 at the Parts Boutique.

The price now for the BT Module is now $408. The BT Module for the RAZR V3 is $400. Site states the V3 must have compatible firmware with phones sold by AWS. You would have to check with them on the firmware versions. With the RAZR the phone is cradled but connected with BT...and will charge and use cars antenna.

The other solution I use is two phones...the MHI Cradle for my Cingular V557 and my RAZR on my hip. I have all calls forwarded from my cradled phones when not in the car forwarded to my hip phone. Cradle is $220 and extra line is $9 a month and phone can be bought for $49 or so at Cingular. Again check the firmware statement.

Ok ...so I might just leave that out until I have another upgrade in phone from Verizon (end of year) then i'll just purchase it from a dealer or something...hopefully by then it might go down...who knows.
