Flipdown DVDs

Looking to install something of 9" screen size, motorized flip motion and not bulky at all. I hate those head rest setups so only looking for a ceiling mounted stuff.

BTW, I do not have a 3 zone but do have sunroof

Thanks

Check out Audiovox and Vizeologic. Here is a link to a 3rd party w/ info...as I stated on the other board, I'd visit a 3rd party audio/video outfit in your neck of the woods and see what they have to offer. I had a local guy quote ~$1200 for installed 9 or 10 inch.

I am a bit concerned about an independent shop messing around with wiring of my car. Should I be worried or can I assume that the installer is trained?

certainly you want to check the shop out...but these shops today do some pretty insane stuff w/ all sorts of cars. just get some references.

That was my worry too and so I went with the factory RSE. Plus I have 2 kids, 1 boy and 1 girl and the two never watch the same thing. EVER. So the dual source option on the factory RSE was a god send for us.

With that being said though you can find some pretty comptent local installers and like mentioned previously ask for some references and go look at what they have done. RSE install is pretty invasive and a lot of interior is pulled out but a good installer can put it back just like new and you would never know. Do expect to pay top dollar for good work though.

GL is a new vehicle so it may be a bit hard to find someone who has already worked on them unless you are in a metro area like LA, SF, DFW, etc.

Depends where I'm going.
The only thing that puzzles me about aftermarket installs is how do they get the audio portion into the sound system? The MOST system is supposed to be fiberoptic and I can't imagine that anyone would want to use an RF system.

I can't remember where but I did read that you can get harnesses that fit in the MOST system thus allowing you to use the fiberoptics. I think it was in the Audio & Telematics forum on benzworld.org.

I wouldn't want it tied in anyway. The kids can listen via their headphones if we go that way.

You can tie into the system - I think the trade off is the ipod capability (w/o steering wheel controls). Although I don't know why you can't have a passthrough mode where either the ipod works, or the rear stereo works.

Just more wiring and time. As a stand-alone they just pop it up there on the ceiling, connect to power, and hook up via wireless headphones.
