We've updated our reliability stats for the GL-Class to include owner experiences through December 31, 2013.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2008 GL-Class: 147, high, small sample size
2007 GL-Class: 137, high, very small sample size
We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

True, it would be more useful that way but that makes the problem of small sample size a lot worse. [Small sample size makes the uncertainty factor on the statistics very high]

If we had enough owners involved, and the stats differed significantly, I'd separate them. We do this in other such cases.

2008 GL-Class: 78, moderate, small sample size
2007 GL-Class: 169, high, very small sample size
Next updates in November and in February. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be. (I'd love to be able to drop the sample size disclaimers.)

So, how have these cars been doing lately?
Our reliability stats for the GL-Class now include owner experiences through March 31, 2015. (Others are nearly a year behind.)
In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year ("low" is best):
2008 GL-Class: 96, high, small sample size
2007 GL-Class: 66, moderate, very small sample size
No stat for a model year? Then we very much need more participants for it. Same for those with small sample size notes--so all of them. Next updates in August and November.

Some recently suggested that we report separate results for the gas and diesel. As far as I could tell from our limited data, the overall frequency doesn't differ much between them. We really need more participants to make separate stats possible. With larger sample sizes the reported repair frequencies might also differ more.
