![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Today while driving my GL, I had the car raised. After a while, a message came on the screen saying "Compressor Cooling Down" while showing a picture of the car. Then later I noticed that a picture of the car was on the screen, but this time the car said "Visit Workshop", while I was on my way home. After I got home, I looked at the car, and the front end of the car was very very low. It was so low that it was a very small bump away from hitting. What do you guys think could be happening? Thanks.

From what I can see you have an airmatic problem. Could be the airmatic system or only a default pump.
You have to visit your dealer. I do not recomend to drive the GL with that problem.

There were several postings in the past about this issue. There were a bad batch of air pumps that had to be replaced. The symptoms in your post are exactly the same as those mentioned previously. You need the pump replaced.

I had the same problem a while back, when MEINTRK (my license plate, by the way) became my "lowrider." The compressor for the front suspension was replaced and I'm no longer driving a lowrider, homes. Sorry...couldn't help but reminisce about my days as a "vato." Once replaced, you should be all right.

I took in the car today, hopefully they can fix the problem soon. Maybe I will hear from the dealer tomorrow about what is going on with the car. Also, is it because it is a Premier Edition, thats why its having problems? Thanks everyone for your help.

On the subject of the air suspension...........I have read all the literature, etc. on the ability of the system to RAISE the height of the vehicle by an additional 3in. Is there also the ability to LOWER the vehicle while it is parked ( for loading purposes)? I know the touareg has that option.........

I had similar problems with my 2006 ML, it looked like the car had been lowered too far and the ride was terrible. In the end it turned out to be a faulty air pump which kept blowing the 40amp fuse under the hood. That's where you should start, have a look in the fuse box and see if one of the 40amp fuses have gone.
