Chrome Accents

Does anyone have close-up shots of the chrome door guards and hood vent chrome accents installed on their GL's? I would like to see how they look against the color of the car. I have them planned to be installed by my delivery dealer and would like to confirm to myself that they add to the look.

TIA

Thanks...really appreciate that. Mine will also be OB...look good to me. It's a go on mine now also.

I lived on Hilton Head for 7 years prior to coming to the desert. My sister lives in Summerville. I will be visiting her in June probably with my GL.

I have them for my Capri Blue ( which is very dark )..........I think they will really add to the "good looks" of the vehicle. Particularly on the dark colors because the grils themselves and the standard fins are black.......they need the chrome to "spice it up!"

Hey EFant,

Did you put on those chrome hood fins? Do they snap on over the existing hood fins or how are they installed?

Thanks,

Jeff

I agree...I think the dark colors need some chrome highlights to set it off.

Bean.....

First of all.......they are plastic, and, they have standard body molding tape on the inner surface......they simply are "stuck" on top of the existing fins. They come with very good instructions. Given the price, however, I was a little surprised that they are plastic, BUT, they do look nice! I'll put them on as soon as I get the vehicle.....

Thanks...after what I went through with the S build and finally buying from stock, MB has not gained my confidence on how they manage the on-demand inventory. I expect them to run out of fuses and halt production for two weeks...:-)

Yeah the S550 was a joke, and mainly the fault of MBUSA in my opinion.

Hopefully Lexus builds my GS350 in a timely manner .

Does anyone know if there is a chrome "sub grille". You know, the one just above the front skid plate made of black wire mesh.

Really the problem was not MBUSA with the option problem on the S550...it was the factory in Germany not having adequate supply line input of parts. The problem continues today with some S550 orders...

The long wait for the GL320CDI is due to insufficient engine blocks with most of the production going to EU models.

MBUSA has done their share of damage to the problems of MB cars though. There limiting of options and creating packages which "they" think will meet "our" needs is the worst offense.

They just stick on over the original black fins. They slip on in 5 mins. So do the door inserts.

I am confused now but that's easily done.

blittle says there is body molding "tape" on the fins and are "stuck" on top of regular fins. Efant says they "stick" on top of regular fins. So are they "taped/stuck" or do they "snap/stick"?

Same for the door inserts. TIA.

They are "taped/stuck"...very easy to install.

Thanks, Mel. I am assuming that this is true for both fins and door guards.
