Gl550
Not sure if anyone noticed or not but this is the longest (most replies) thread on the GL forum.
Personally, I like the front on my 450 better, but the front of the 550 wouldn't keep me from buying one. The front of the 550 is noticably bigger.

MB is not afraid to price their top of the line models at prices which shock us all. Look at the S63/65, the E63 wagon and sedan, the SLK's, CLK's and other AMG models. The new GL550 will be the unofficial AMG level GL and will be priced accordingly. I am sure they are looking at pre-orders and licking their lips in the accounting department. As far as taking advantage of its customers, in the pricing area they have done it for years whether it be parts, service or options. I love 'em but....
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Since you are a Newbie I was trying to respond (not argue) to your opinion that the GL will have a AMG variant (as posted by GL Fahrer.)
I really don't try to create conflict on this forum or any forum. I respond with my opinion and knowledge that I have on the MB line of automobiles.

While I'm at it, I wouldn't mind seeing a SWB S63 in the States.
If you have a scanner could you scan the image MBUSA sent you and post here? If you can't post it, email it to me using PM and I will post on a web site and then post here.

"secret"
The unique styling of the GL 550 adds visual emphasis to this model's
special status and also addresses the U.S. Mercedes-Benz customers' wish
for vehicles with an even greater degree of exclusivity and a strong,
individual identity. The revised, distinctively sculpted front with the
dominant radiator grille serves as a visual idiom for the exceptional
performance of the enhanced 5.5L, 382 hp V8 engine and lends the GL 550
a sense of dynamic forward movement, even when stationary. This
assertive look is complemented with the flared fenders, impressive
21-inch AMG wheels and running boards. From the rear, this vehicle can
be easily identified by its redesigned split-chrome exhaust tailpipes
which add further emphasis to its powerful character.

Not flaming you, soccerg201. Just venting my frustration at MB. Why would you build a flagship vehicle and not design all options for it?
Maybe it is in the P2 Package???
