Leather Seats Dirty Easily
I am going to also post this on the "clean & detail" board, but thought maybe others of you are having the same issue. Mine is Macadamia (real leather) and while driver's seat is showing serious surface dirt (I wear clean pants daily and work at a desk, so i know it's not me being dirty).
Does anyone have a suggestion of a product that a little more liquid than the "lotion" type leather cleaners out there. If i use those, i have to scrub to get it out (and i don't want to rub the dirt in), and then the seat leather on the one seat will age too quickly!

YES.........from "Griots Garage" (do a google on that) it's called "interior cleaner" It is the best! I've used it on Corvettes ( show cars ) and other leathers and it is the best of any out there with regard to doing the job and not causing any harm to good leather.

I am having the same problem too on all of my seats. I just noticed it this past weekend. Its definitely noticeable in areas where you slide in and out. I've also heard the Griots cleaner works best. I'll try it out too.

As usual, this forum's members come through! Thanks, i've just ordered some...the other issue i have noticed is the rubber surrounding the base of the windows doesn't wipe very smudge-free when i am cleaning the car...maybe the rubber wipes would work there?

The rubber around the base of my windows looks like cr@p and the vehicle is only a month old!

For those of us with the MB Tex interior, would these wipes work on the Tex interior, too? I noticed the other morning how dirty my Ash seats were.

Yes, the interior wipes will work well on anything but glass. After I'm done on the inside, I take the used ones and clean up the engine a little. (guy thing)

I just got my interior cleaner & vinyl/rubber dressing. Wow, this stuff is great! I can't believe how easily the interior cleaned up.
Got all of the black scuff marks off the plastic side panels near the emergency brake. I've got small feet and keep scraping the side panels near the emergency brake -- I can only imagine how much you guys with larger feet do this!
I used the vinyl/rubber dressing around the trim on the windows. Looks so much better! This is how it should have come from the dealership.

Leather before, MB Tex now ...
In getting my GL with MB Tex I am getting rid of my LX470. It's a 99 with 217,000+ miles on it and to say the leather is worn is an understatement - I neglected it and the side panels on the seats are now cracked (though not torn). But when I re-built the center console (I'd had a CD changer put in by a shop, no longer in Scottsdale, that were real blood butchers), I used something called Leather CPR on the leather top, where my arm had spent nearly eight years of driving in all conditions. The leather came out soft, clean, and unfaded. Stuff worked like a charm. It even made the cracked sides on the seat softer (though of course didn't repair them!). I've used it on a number of leather parts and was quite impressed.
That said, it is a bit of work to get the goo out of the jar, rub it in, rub it off and then try to buff it a bit. So perhaps I'll look at those wipes now that I'm out of leather!

Yes, Griot's interior cleaner is probably one of the best items they sell. It's also extremely useful around the house, something I learned a few years ago when we had a baby. It cleans up carpet mishaps much better than the carpet cleaners. And it's totally saved our microfiber furniture in the basement at least half a dozen times. Best thing about it is no scent.
I'm not as sold on some of the other items in their catalog that I've tried. But the interior cleaner is awesome.

Hmm ...
I have to be curious about them showing microfiber (or for our European and Canadian friends, 'microfibre') cloths with window cleaner. I've often been told to never use microfibers with anything other than water - it just isn't necessary. I've been able to remove the greasy crud from a hot interior that builds up on the windshield with nothing more than tap water and a microfiber cloth, no streaks or spots left. Then I just wash it with hot water and non-moisturizing hand soap (like straight Dial). Wonderful things, those!

So what's a good cleaner for the leather seats? I got black leather and you can see where the dirt is beginning to collect. Not to mention wife's Volvo has a light leather and it could use a good cleaning.

The Griot's cleaners are good if you like wipes, also Zymol has some nice stuff; cleaner and conditioner for leather works well.
