Not to derail this interesting thread....but here is what I replaced my GL320CDI with yesterday. Did you consider the Q7?

This was taken just after delivery in South Florida. I'm home now.

Q7 only has a slight advantage in price and included maintenance. I tried the Q7 it and did not like it. The exterior design, interior, and ergonomics are great, but it does not feel as refined as the GL on the road. For me, the GL is far superior and the MB brand a lot more appealing in my subconscious for just a few more bucks, but that is just my opinion though. You are also giving a lot of gas economy going from GL to Q7. I think depreciation is probably better in the GL, but I am just speculating.

For AS, Q7 has a huge advantage in that there are no hoses to blow off.

I know this is a MB Forum, but that is one beautiful SUV. The only reason it didn't work for us is because there just isn't enough height in the cargo area for all the crap we haul with us (btw... our Bernese Mountain Dog was not meant to be included in the crap reference) everytime we travel anywhere.

Good luck and hope you never have another blown hose in your life!

That red looks good on the Q7. Best of luck with that new Audi!

To all: Thanks for the kind words. There are many pros/cons to both the GL and the Q and I'll post my comments in a separate thread for all to see once I've had time get settled in.

Nope I measured it and my Vari is 24" across at the widest point and with the arm rests in the back, the GL measures 36" across. If the arm rests weren't there, then 2 of them would fit.

Very nice, AS!! I looked at the Q7 online before I bought my GL but there aren't any Audi dealers within 50 miles of where I live. The MB dealership is about 35 or so miles away as it is.

GL 450 POJ (piece of junk)
Hi AutoSaurus:

I have the GL450 now and sadly the car rattles which I hate. I have taken it to the shop 3 times now. I was wondering how you got MB to buy back your car. I have to say that I am super pissed. Thanks in advance.

They say it is because of the ipod integration and that it wasn't done right. now they fixed that but the car still rattles when it is warm or most of the time.

Know the lemon law of your state as each is very different. be prepared to wait it out. be polite but persistent. you may not have much to go on though since its not mechanical as mine was.

Good luck.

Rattle fixed for now

Hi

Now it isn't rattling anymore. They fixed it. I am loving it now! I drives really well but am wondering if I should tell MB as you have indicated just in case.

Thank you so much. I love your Q7 btw.
