Why is it taking so long?
I ordered my new 2008 GL 320 on July 6th and the car has a production date the week of October 22nd. Is this normal or am I being horsed around by the dealer?

No,I guess that is about right. Almost 4 months to complete. Demand and limited production schedule are the culprits. I ordered in December and delivery was finally available in May (which I declined due to the hose problem and a personal situation.)

As I understand it, each dealer is allocated a certain number of GLs depending upon the production cycle, total dealership sales, etc.. My dealer had 3 GL320s allocated for a mid September build when we ordered our 320 at the end of July. Since they were not in pre-production and were coded green (I think), we were able to modifiy the options on one of the GL320 and get the vehicle just they way we wanted it. When I lasted checked, the end production date is 19 September and the dealer said that we should get it within a week. Of course, my understanding may be wrong!
