I know that the comparison should be made with the ML but i was wondering if anyone has a view on handling differences between the GL and the Cayenne?. I am planning to trade in my Cayenne Turbo for the 550 (need the third row), i am very concerned with the difference in handling if any.

I'm sorry to say this is no apples to apples comparison having driven both vehicles in Germany -ie Autobahn speed! For such large vehicles both have excellent road manners and stability. The Cayenne Turbo certainly has a sportier suspension setup and therefore provides a firmer, less compliant ride as opposed the the GL550. For aggressive driving/handling needs the Cayenne would be my choice. The reason I bought the GL550 is that it is an overall excellent performer and by far more practical (Cayenne's trunk space is a joke). Ultimately, most of us need SUVs for mundane uses and are rarely driven at the limit. Best option: by the GL550 and a sportscar for when you need to unleash in the twisties...

Cayenne is too much of a toy and also isn't the name just too weird.. If I'm gonna have a porsche it should be a 911 and not some foolish thing trying to be a truck.
