So if there are no adjustments for the time, does it use the GPS or satellite radio to set the time? Did it automatically change the time? My office manager's Honda changed the time, a week early. It must have been pre-programmed by the old DST dates.

Although, I found out that Mexico did not move their date to "Fall back". We were ready to head to the airport on Sun, 10/28, and were informed that we were an hour early because their time had changed Sat night. Had we known this, we could have enjoyed "that extra hour" two weekends in a row.

The Nuvi we took on the motorhome trip changed times as it changed time zones, on its own.

These are the things that confuse me.
Our E class resets the time zone when crossing the border.

The GL doesn't.

There is no time zone setting nor a daylight savings time setting on the E-class Command.

Difference between Becker and Alpine units.

I mentioned that I had reset the clock to my MB service guy the other day, and he told me that I probably didn't have to. If the car has NAV, and if you leave it on the NAV screen, it should automaticaly update. (maybe it takes time to download) Also, I am told by a SL driver, that it will also update time zones as you travel, if it is left on the NAV screen. Picks up the signal with the GPS stuff.

I just finished that trip across country and back and had the opportunity to see the GPS change 6 times...it never happened. I had the NAV on continually. The estimated time of arrival was always PDT.

It may in some of the programs change automatically but not on the GL as far as I can tell. I don't think my S did either but can't really remember.

We were in Mountain time for a week & used the NAV continuously and the clock never changed. I had to break out the COMMAND manual to figure out how to do it.

Setting Analog clock 2007 GL 320 CDI

I was unable to find anything in the owner's manual or command manual on changing the analog clock. Did anyone find it? Page number? It should be in the manual as MB makes very complete owner's manuals,

I crossed time zones in my 2005 SLK350 last month and it changed the clock as I crossed from CDT to EDT and back again. Wonder why the GL doesn't do the same?

I am guessing that Kent has nailed it. Different head units change time differently.

page 220

Page 220 of the 2007 GL 320CDI command manual does not contain any reference to the analog clock. Only adjustments to time zone and daylight time for the command module. So far, there is not apparent way to change the analog clock setting in any menu or with any button. Any other suggestions? I called my MB dealer yesterday and today with the question, no response yet.

So when you change the time in the command module, does the analog clock not re-set? I too could not find anything in the '08 manual, but after reading about it here, I ran out to the garage to look. Sure enough, the analog clock had changed to match the command module.

Yes it does the same thing on 07 GL 320 CDI.. change the time on command center and the analog clock changes too.. The only thing I did was select a different time zone to match DST. ( could not find how you can change hours without selecting different time zone to match)

Select your correct time zone and daylight or standard time. The clock resets automatically. You do not move the hands of the clock...they move automatically when you select the time zone/daylight/standard time.

Software glitch in Analog Clock

Here it is: GL 320 CDI 2007: command software glitch: choosing EST daylight savings brings up an hour later, choosing standard time brings up correct time. Conclusion: MB software error and the system needs updating, check with your dealer if you have the same problem.

Where is the error? We went back to standard time. EST daylight savings would definitely bring up an hour later (spring forward for daylight savings). So, 10:00 am EST daylight would be 9:00 am EST standard time.

analog clock/ Thank you

I stand corrected on the daylight savings time issue. MB was right and so were all of you. Thank you and I appreciate the time and interest you share with your fellow GL owners. The GL is a complex machine and the MB world is a great compliment to ownership.
