Change the time

Hi,

I was having problem changing the time in the GL. Looking at the Command Operator Manual but not too clear on how to do it. Can someone show me a simple way to do that?

Thanks

Cedric,

Not to be rude, but have you looked at any other subjects in the forum before posting your question? Just 4 subjects below your post is a whole section that discusses changing the time in a GL. You can find the discussion here; https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-x164/217006-analog-clock-change.html

Good Luck!

change the time

hi Stumble foot,

I did but not helpful. I am looking at the page 220 in the COMMAND manual (2007 GL) It doesn't show me how to adjust the time manually. the only thing i can do is press to change the time zone, daylight saving time. I need to be able to change the clock myself. this is the trouble I am having. do you know exactly the procedure how to manually change that. The one in the manual will not help adjust the time. It seems like the car (system) pick the time for me.

Please help.

Cedric, what GL model do you drive?

From what I've experienced personally and read on the forum, you shouldn't have to change the clock yourself. In fact, it's physically impossible to do.

Once you update your command system, the analog clock will adjust accordingly. See this post to confirm; https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....4&postcount=39

If your analog clock doesn't do as described above, then you may have a special problem with the software. Check out this post; https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....2&postcount=40

Good Luck!

change the time

I have the 2007 GL450. I have no idea why they make it so complicated for just to changing the time. OMG.

My previous 2003 E500 was easy to do.

Having it done for you automatically is complicated?

Once you tell the system your time zone and whether daylight savings time is in effect, the clock is accurately set for you.

If not, it's broken.

When you select your time zone and daylight saving/standard time, the clock resets itself automatically. You never touch the clock. Give it a shot...if the clock doesn't reset, then something is wrong.

I hear you! Thank goodness I got an '08 and it was easy as eatin' a piece of apple pie.

I can't imagine the trouble I would have had last spring when it was time to "Spring Forward" if I had an '07.

You've not been around long enough to understand why, but I just laughed so hard there's a little pee spot on my seat.

Just thought you should know.

All right, I have to share today's experience. Took mine to dealer for loose door handle and the TPMS malfunction. They didn't have any C class loaners so I was given a Nissan Armada with 2K miles on it. Perfect timing since I have to move some stuff tomorrow and don't have to worry about ruining my GL

Driving the Armada felt like I was steering my couch and talk about floaty. Then it got dark and I started admiring the multi color display of Armada and was wondering why MB can't put a color display. I started messing with controls and within 30 seconds realized why I like the GL so much. In Armada, the vast array of controls was confusing (hey, I'm driving a car not flying a plane) and there is no concept of context sensitive "soft keys". So, to change/set anything you have to touch the controls which are 6 in below the display. After you look down to find the control and make the change then you have to look back at the display for validation. When you are driving at 70 this looking up and down can be distracting. GL's simple and uncluttered interface is much more "user friendly". So, yeah, while it may be hard to figure out how to change the clock in a GL but think how easy it is to do common operations especially when you are driving.

I think I finally put my MS in Human Computer Interaction to use

I surely don't intend this to come off as being coy or rude, but I haven't heard anyone suggest using the complimentary tel-aide system (press the "i" button in the arm rest for help), that our vehicles came with for one year. I did on this issue, and the MB rep I spoke with couldn't have been more helpful. That said, don't get me wrong, the help and advice coming from all the great people participating in this forum on all topics is fabulous. There are times, though, when it's nice to have that convenient option of speaking with a company rep to guide you while sitting in the vehicle. That's what this feature is there for, especially if the manual is unclear.

If memory serves me correctly on changing the time manually, the rep had me press the SYS button on the Command (Nav) system and then select the clock. The digital time displays on the screen, and I was directed to press the down arrow using the joystick, which decreased (fall back) the hour by one. Doing that automatically changed the analog clock as well. In fact, you can watch the minute hand rotate back one revolution to the desired time. As I recall, that's all there was to it.

Same instructions by Nevada Jack on another clock thread just below," analog clock change". He is pretty much an expert on the vehicle, though I guess two times is a charm

LAST COMMENT ON THIS ISSUE:
I clipped this from the Owners Online home page at MBUSA.com. (N.B. All owners should register just to get access to the PDF manual for their vehicle which provides search tools if the index is confusing on the 2" thick printed word)
The clip from the home page lower left corner: "Setting the vehicle clock in your Mercedes-Benz
Depending on your vehicle model, clock adjustments may be performed through your instrument cluster, steering-wheel controls, or through your vehicle's COMAND system.

They then provide the detailed instructions from the manual. Clearly a confusing item for lots of folks.
Register for the online owners site. Very powerful, professional website.

I doubt it, Kent. In 08 you can set hours and minutes directly on COMAND. In my 07 there is no such option.
