IPOD question

When driving yesterday with my teenage son, he noticed that the screen on the actual IPOD, displayed nothing but the Mercedes logo, although the usual info (or lack thereof ) was displayed on the screen seen through the steering wheel. Question: is there a setting on the IPOD that needs to be set correctly so you can still see and work all the options while it's plugged into the integration kit? Thanks.

Not on the iPod. You can use your phone controls on the right side of the steering wheel in tandem with the left side controls to toggle between artists, genres, etc. on your iPod. And this information is only viewable on the drivers display screen. There is a slim booklet that should have come with your truck that shows you how it works. Once you figure that out it's pretty slick. I would just prefer that the command unit manage the iPod info so the passenger can control the music while I drive!

Good luck.

As BJ021 indicates, once the ipod is connected to the kit, you can only control the ipod with the steering wheel buttons. The ipod is to be left in the glove box.

Question!
Can you only use an Ipod in the gl or s-class or is it adaptable to any mp3 player such as Insignia as I have both with Different things on them.?
Thanks
John

My guess is that it will work with an iPod only based on the connector that the factory iPod kit comes with. If the other mp3 players have the same connector they could work. Based on what I know of Apple, I consider that to be highly unlikely.
