I have a Cavalier, too!

He's 5 years old...blenheim, named Rudy. He's a real snuggle bunny!

Oh, BTW, I agree with your comments and like everyone else, I believe you'll get used to them. Even with my complaints, there isn't a day I don't get in the truck and think "GOD I love this truck!"

edited to add: nah, you won't get used to the IPOD thing. Shame on MB for such a crap job with THAT!

I never thought I would have a small dog or a Mercedes (I was a BMW guy). Now I have two Cavaliers(adopted through marriage) and get the GL today. Amazing how things change.

Hey stlduckhunter- Do you tow a camo boat with that GL?

No tilting passenger mirror when backing and no cabin charcoal filter. I miss the charcoal filter the most. Heck, even the base E class has these!

From the Spec Sheet for the GL550:

Charcoal-activated dust and pollen filter.

No but I haul my two labs. After the season, I will have to do a super detail. Getting delivery during duck season was bad timing, but I love the ride.

using the back up camera, are you able to line up the hitch all the way? If so, thats a huge convenience.

Infamily-

Your boat is probably more normal than mine.I have a strange looking camoflage boat that will look funny behind my pristine black GL. It looks like it should be behind a jacked up pick up truck.

yes the rear view camera is wonderful. I can see the ball and makes it so easy to line up. Now I never need another person to guide or keep jumping out of car to see if i made it.

Would be nice if MBZ offered an accessory open slot tray to replace the useless cig lighter drawer. As it is, sunglasses are placed to slide around in the area just in front of the cupholders .

Ipod integration is primitive and the required steering wheel buttons' logic to scroll and play Itunes is not intuitive.

NAV looks like something from a 1994 ETAK dash mount .

Kids get tangled up in the RSE's wired headphones coming and going .

Am I the only one that uses the small drawer above the ashtray drawer for sunglasses. I keep seeing posts about no place for sunglasses. In a GL with the ORP, this drawer is not available but most posters here do not have the ORP.

That upper drawer is not tall enough for my wife's sunglasses and from my experience with these "soft catch" push open/push to latch drawers / compartments on previous MBZs, they eventually fail to open/fail to latch after a while , so I would prefer an open area esp when wanting to grab something while driving.

I use it to put my change in. The 3 slots they provide in the center console are a joke for change.

I've never had any failure with "soft catch" drawers used in the MB. However, one option is to use the front cup-holder for your sun glasses...I have done this during long trips and it works fine.

Leosophie: will you be waxing your own car?

I no longer wax cars myself (no time--I've got a 17 mo old baby at home) but when I did, I swore by Zaino products. www.zainobros.com

We used their products for more than 8 years on all kinds of cars and they always looked spectacular!

Jack, I thought of it, but my sunglasses are too big for the drawer and sometimes get stuck when I open/close it.

So the glasses have been sitting between that and the cupholder. I usually have both my cupholders filled: one with water, one with my cell.

I have not waxed the GL yet. Only 2 1/2 months old. I will find a detailer to do it for me. I notice the OB is now much more Black than I remember it being. I think they must have reduced the "brown pigment" some because I really don't see that dusty look that much in the sun anymore.
