Scotty,
Here's the latest. Today when I took my 320 in for Service A, the service rep confirmed what Jim Barnhart has been saying. The funny thing is, every sales person in the dealership and the Finance Manager all thought they were selling 5 yr/ 100K warranties. They are going to bring it up at their next sales meeting.
The sales and finance people at the dealer where I purchased the 320 all believe the same thing. I am going to try to pursuade them to let me pay for the extra two years, but I am not very optimistic.

I assume you are around the 12,000 mile range? in how long? If you are over the 1000 mile per month range, you will not get the full 4 years out of your orig. warranty. I would think the dealer would let you pay the balance to bring the extended up to 3 year/50000 additional. If they can't get it approved, you should call MBUSA, either way they still get paid the same. As far as they taking it up at the next sales meeting????? ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I don't know if it is a matter of deliberate deceptiveness by MBUSA or poor communication and training of the sales and finance staff.

In my case I think the sales/financing depts really didn't understand what they were selling. Like I said earlier in this thread they did help me with my warranty, but it still cost me.
Now the dealership is no longer selling MB extended warranties and are selling EasyCare warranties, which I purchased on my GL. I have TotalCare, which seems to cover most anything. I haven't had to use it yet obviously, so I can't endorse or critique it.

Premier America Credit Union. Their car buying service is Auto Land. Sticker on the car was $62.8 and I paid $58.6. I checked around with CostCo and AAA's auto buying service and the lowest they would go was $60K for the same car, so I feel like I did pretty good.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I, and many finance managers, are still confused on the extended warranty policy. I have heard from a couple managers that MB has changed their policy. The "new" extended warranties are now interpretted as 5/6/7 yr or 100k from original in-service date (the way most people assumed it was always structured). However, I also had a couple managers explain it to me as still a 1/2/3 yr extension starting immediately after the factory warranty expires. There is a difference. Beacuse in my case if I drive 25k per yr, the so called 5/100 warranty will only last me for 3 yrs. So which is it? thanks.

I recently purchased a GLK and purchased a warranty as well 5/100k. After reading the terms and still a bit confused, I asked the finance lady and she stated
"In the past with Mercedes you would only have the one additional year. Starting May of last year Mercedes changed their policy. You now get the full 5 yrs from the warranty start date or the 100k miles whichever comes first."

For my 2007 GL with 35000 miles, I bought Universal warranty corporation their Auto max through a dealer (they don't sell to individuals) for 4yrs/100k miles for $3200 with $200.00 deductible. couple people on here said that UWC is a good warranty and easy to deal with. If you need the dealer info let me know.

The service dept had to work with EasyCare to settle the claim. At first EasyCare wanted them to find used parts and replace it with that. After a few conversations between EasyCare and the dealer they reached a compromise price for a new COMAND unit. In the end I'll have to pay my $200 deductible and be set. I'm happy I bought the extended warranty.
