Hitch Cover
I’ve been pondering for some time this very delicate question. Is it tacky to use a “statement” (favorite team, MB etc.) hitch cover or should I stay with the basic black?
I sure don’t want to tick of the GL gods!!

My opinion is, it's your vehicle, put your signature on it! Whatever that signature might be -- a hitch cover with the 49'ers, Harley-Davidson or just plain. Of course, I'm also one of those who has personalized license plates.

As to the original question, I would say put what you want to on your car. Can't please 100% of people, 100% of time so might as well please yourself.

If you get a chance, can you post a pic or two of your cover?

Ahh, you stole my thunder! Rats!

Do you mean that you were going to surprise the group by putting one of those on your GL hitch and posting a picture? Or the fact that I mentioned it first?
You could always use the boat propeller blade hitch cover, but that may too tacky.

I personally like the arm "caught" in the tailgate. LOL. Then again, brass trucknuts wouldn't be bad either. http://www.truck-nuts.com/index.html Seriously, though, I thought of buying a MB star like the one on the tailgate and sticking it to the black factory cover, but then I realized it would aesthetically be overkill, as it would be too close to the pre-existing star above. I just keep the ball hitch in the receiver and forget about it. If you want to put a customized receiver cover, just like a personalized plate (mine says MEINTRK), it's an expression of your personality and you should go for it. If it makes you smile when you look at it, then it's okay.

The boat prop would only interest me if it were hooked to the engine for actual prop RPMs. (Keep people from tailgating) I used to have a kind of cool one for my Excursion that was the round Ford symbol (with Ford script in it) that lit up with the brake lights. But it got either stolen or left somewhere. It'd have to be a really nice one for me to want to do that with the MB star.
