New info on center caps

In my earlier thread on pics of new center caps I mentioned that I had purchased my caps from radusadirect.com at a price of $14.50 per cap, plus shipping. I just found out that Jerry at formymercedes.com has a few center caps to choose from, including black or white with the silver star, at a price of 4 for $29.00 plus shipping. He currently has them listed under vehicles other than the GL. I suggested to him that he might want to add them to his GL page of accessories.

Follow up on this: Just received an email from Jerry at formymercedes.com who says he is now looking for a new supplier on the center caps. He will not have them available until he finds a supplier which of course, could affect his pricing.

I haven't seen the other thread yet so I'm sorry if I'm being repetitive. I have been off the forum for a week (and going through withdrawals!). I just received my vehicle last week and have been installing my closet of accessories. One of the things I bought were the Obisidan Black center caps from radusadirect. I wasn't sure how they were going to look. I'm not sure how they look in other colors but for NJ and other Ob Black owners, they look AWESOME! They are one of my favorite accessories. Will post pics soon!

Did you have the dealer install the caps or did you do it yourself? Did you have to remove the rims to install them?

NJ,

Funny, I brought it to a shop because I figured they could just take the wheels off lickity split. Turns out that the guy didn't have to. He told me that there is a "tool" that just pulls the caps off since they are not the "bolt on" kind but rather the snap in/off kind. He didn't even charge me because he said it was so easy. I should have asked him what tool he used. I can call him and ask if you want. He's right across the street from my office.

You can probably use a variety of tools to remove the cap since they really just clip in. You would just have to be careful not to scratch the rims. I highly reccommend them NJ, they look great. They can't be a bigger pain in the neck than those AMG pedals. Man that brake pedal was a pain in the @$$. Speaking of which, I couldn't manage to get that little rubber gromet through the hole on the emergency brake, is there a trick to that?

Let me know if you'd like me to inquire about the tool they used.

I will look into one of the tire shops here and see if they have the "knack" tool to do the job. The on site source for those caps indicate to remove the wheel but that may be to protect them...did you get them from Jerry or the site posted earlier (RAD something). EDIT: just saw you bought them from RAD...

To get that little rubber gromet seated I used a little spit and just kept hitting with the end of a screwdrive until it finally seated.
