Installing mud flaps on GL450?

Guys,
I bought these mud flaps from the dealership and was wondering if anyone has installed these. A few years ago I installed mud flaps on a c class and it was a simple job, it doesn't look that simple for the GL450. Any help will be appreciated and also would like to know how much the dealer might charge for installing the mud flaps on GL450 2007.
BTW I don't have any running boards installed.

They are not trivial and they have no instructions. I am having the dealer install them at my first check-up(rears only as I have the running board option).
If they are so 70's why does every other high end foreign made (Japanese) suv come with them as standard equipment. With wide tires they really protect the paintwork if you do any country (like dirt) driving.

Just had dealer put them on today there are no instructions and no fastners for one set ; I normally do it my self. They charged me one hour labour. the hardest thing is taking the wheels on and off. unless you have a 90 degree screw driver and ratchet set and 90 degree drill.

I ordered the rear flaps as part of my original order with the dealer. They installed them although I don't think they removed the wheels. For the front, a newer flap has been available for the '08 GL (not the 550?). I bought them and when my wife's car was in the shop for some minor body work, they offered to install my front flaps for nothing, other than a simple tip to the installer. It worked perfectly and I slipped him $15 for his trouble. He was a happy camper, and so was I.

Mud Flaps

thanks guys. I guess I will take it to the dealership and one hour labor means $100, kind of steep but I guess I don't have much option. On a second thought I might try some independent shop.

GL 450 and X5
I decided not to do the self-install in the absence of of instructions. I've installed mudflaps on my BMW X5 and Passat wagon without much difficulty.

The service department charged me only $48.50 to have them installed even if they quoted me for $100. they probably worked on it for half the time

Just finished self-installing the rear mud flaps. Ordered the genuine oem flaps from dealerfit.com for $112. I spent total 2hrs installing (no instructions). The first 1.5hr I was taking my time and checking everything thrice, and working alone in the dark with flashlight. Then I finally called a friend to help (just to have extra set of hands), and finished the job relatively quickly. Having 1 install under my belt and figuring out the tricks, I can install another set of flaps from beginning to end in under 15 minutes. Anyway, self installation is not difficult, just a but tricky (but no need to remove wheels, no need to drill holes or tap). Having said this, I would gladly have paid a technician $15 or $20, but NOT $125 as some dealers would quote. This is easily a 10-15min job for a technician with right tools (tip: forceps or dexterious fingers plus thin forearms).

Installation procedures are found in WIS document AZ88.30-P-0003GY, "Retrofit Mud Guards."

You can find this on the service DVD or you can download it at startekinfo.com with an $18 one-day subscription.

Were I to buy the flaps at a dealer, I'd ask them to print me a copy from their system.

I actually had mine installed by the body shop at my local MB dealer. I got into a conversation one day with the assistant mgr. of the body shop, and he invited me to have them do it. He knew that the service dept. would charge an arm and a leg. It took him about 30 minutes and it cost me $20.00.
