Unhappy Battery

By the way, does anyone having problem open up the cover to locate the battery under the passenger side. Today I was trying to jump start my other car, Trying to use the battery from the GL. Oh gosh, Open one side of the cover, then move the front chair backwards to remove the other side. The diagram on the menu is totally different. In the menu, it shows you can see teh whole thing, but actually you can't the passenger side chair is on the top of it, you can either see one side or goto the front and see the other side. My jump cable seems impossible to stick it in to the positive connection. There is no room. why can't they locate the battery in the front. Man, this GL is pain in the ***.

Is there a trick that I don't really know? Please show me if you guys know.

There is a positive terminal under the hood for jump starting, on the passenger side. It has a red plastic insulator cap protecting it.

Hi Scotty, can you tell me more details on that. I opened up the cover behind the passenger side, That is a negative connection. The other side under the passenger side chair has Positive and I did see the red plastic cover and I did remove it. But I can't seem to put my Jump start cable to connect to it, it doesn't have enough space.

Are you talking about the same thing? Or there is another red plastic insulator cap under the front hood by the engine? I am little confused.

Please help.

It's in the engine compartment. I'll try to attach the part from my owner's manual.

The trick is RTFM, i.e. read your owners manual!

Or, if you can't seem to find it in your own personal copy of "War & Peace - and the GL Owner's Manual," ask here. Which is kind of the purpose of this forum, isn't it? Owners helping out owners, yes?

Kent, you'e adding a tone that I don't believe is well appreciated in the GL forum.

We like to talk about things here. Sometimes people ask easier/lazier questions that they can figure out themselves but it often leads to some interesting discoveries by others.

Either way, all are welcome.

i like the guys who are sitting in front of their computer, asking if someone else will go out and take a pic of something (wheels, turnsignals, ashtray, etc) so they don't have to go outside and look...lol

Crazy thing is.... some people will do it.

It's not crazy; it's what makes this forum what it is...nice.

It's not crazy! (It's Jack!)

Besides, I've seen enough differences in these vehicles to know, sometimes it's just different.

I think you missed a subtle point here. Cedric did read the manual – to a point. He had to in order to even know where the battery was and how to get at it.

With the sudden need to jump-start a car you’re more likely to quickly look something up than sit down in front of the fireplace for the afternoon browsing your copy of ‘War and Peace’. Add some frustration in to the mix to cloud his thinking and the unusual battery and jump start post positions. This is clearly not a case of lazyness.

Guess you didn't notice the smile on my face when I wrote what I wrote--which I knew was repetitive.

Perhaps you can worry about yourself rather than others--nobody appointed you listmom.

No I didn't notice any smile. Maybe you can click to the right and actually put one in next time, or better yet, actually answer the question. Although we all really did enjoy your humor, it was so witty and constructive.
