I know from your post, many of you have hobbies. This is one of mine. It aired on the History Channel yesterday on a program called "Shockwave".

No, I am not Scotty Lumbert. I am the guy driving the rescue boat with the capsule on it.

Scotty,

I can't imagine how fast your heart had to be racing when you picked up the capsule, especially when the canopy opened up. Amazing video!

It definitely gets the adrenaline pumping. We average about one crash per event x 8-10 events per year. Many of them are just as spectacular but this one was unique because of the capsule getting launched onto land.

My boat was busy putting out a fire on the boat in the other lane when I got a call to go around the island, where the capsule ended up. Crashes are only part of our duties. For every crash we have several fires or sinking boats or any number of things going on. A few times the fires are so intense that we intentionally sink the boat.

Great video and lucky that he walks again. Also, some safety lessons learned that will help future racers.

Beautiful piece. I wouldn't exactly call that tame. Twin 300's

Jack, thanks. I started out as a rescue diver, which I prefer, but became a rescue boat captain due to attrition. I would much prefer to be suited up.

That was an amazing piece, Scott. Thanks for sharing. I can't even imagine the emotions that you go through during something like this and have to keep your focus since lives depend on you. My kudos.

Thanks Nish. I find it very rewarding plus Kristen travels with me and is on the competition committee, in charge of timing.

Here's another one. Amazing Videos. It airs on Spike TV this Friday at 10 PM EST. The crash happened last Memorial Day weekend in Red Bluff, CA. I was driving the first boat on the scene and we put two divers in the water.

Here's a cave diving video from last months trip to Cozumel. Kevin and Amy Kelly, Kristen, and I took the ferry over to Playa Del Carmen and drove out to Cenote Dos Ojos (Two Eyes). Our guide, German (Her-MAHN) Yanes met us at the ferry and had a porter deliver our gear to a parking lot where a late model Suburban and driver awaited us. Herman is a highly qualified cave diver and teaches cave diving, tri-mix, and closed circuit re-breather certifications. He is also very active in several scientific research projects involving diving. He is the on with twin tanks. I am in the yellow fins with Kristen, Kevin, and Amy following.

The resident photographer at the site shoots the video and then offers it for sale at the end of the dive. It cost 100 pesos ($8) / person. The only down side is that since it is a cave with narrow passages, he is limited to filming the dives near the beginning and ends. This dive lasted for 35 minutes but the video gives you a small taste of the experience, showing the incredible visibility and the ornate beauty of the caves.

Kevin streamed the video clips together with a few still photos and added the music.

Very cool, but be careful with those caves. I co-worker of mine, and a very avid diver, lost his life in a cave dive.
