Update on non-shifting trnasmission

I do not believe this. I have had the car only two weeks, 700 miles and the transmission is toast. It will not shift out of 1st gear.

Going to be in the shop at least a week.

I love the car, but this is bogus.

yours sounds like an isolated incident-why will the car be in the shop a full week-looks like the dealer ought to get you in/out in a day or two if you just dropped that much on a new GL? I'd be asking for a really nice loaner if not...

I agree with Carpersn, this sounds like a one-off. We've had our share of "incidents" (including the turbo hose blowoff and liftgate issues - I've managed to experience both) and other "one-offs" (total electrical meltdown due to a roof leak). Would you happen to know the build date of your truck so folks with similar build dates could know to watch for something like this? If it starts happening to more people, we've found having this type of forum can really advance our cause as we can act as a group (albeit a smallish one).

Thanks!

Sounds like the dealer have already diagnosed the problem if they gave a time frame of how long they will fix it. Did they tell you what was wrong with it.
My wife has a friend whom she car pools with. She drives with her hands wrapped around where the shifter control on the wheels are and always unknowingly touches the shifter(paddles?). Well she did not know and the poor 450 will always be on lower gears. She complained to the mercedes dealer but was told that the trans. was ok. She later found out about the shifter on the back of the stearing wheels.

Yes, they have already diagnosed the problem, we are just waiting for parts. It a pump attached to the transmission which build up the transmission fuid pressure to facilitate shifting. When I get it back I will scan the service receipt and post it.

Got the car back and it drives great. Seems like it has more power than before.

You could have;

A) The latest transmission software.

B) The driver adaptation program re-set - so drive it like you want it to respond, because it might re-learn what it had before!

C) Anything else that anyone else says. (Hey, I'm no expert!)
