I am in the process of buying a new GL 320 CDI. I have negotiated a great price on the car itself. I would hate to give most of this back on the extended warranty.

My wife is pretty insistant on getting the warranty. The dealer wants to charge $4120 for a MB ESC 36 month/ 100,000 mile no deductible warranty.

My question is what have others paid for this or is there another better option for an extended warranty.

The MB Extended warranty is negotiable. I talked them down to 3400 +tax for the 3 yr/100k plan.

FYI....I also purchased the 3yr/100k extended warranty for my E class back in 2004. Just this past week - 14 days after the regular warranty ended - my sunroof stopped working. The extended warranty covered the issue - $850.00 savings right off bat.

I paid $ 3,400 + tax. you don't have to buy from the selling dealer. I did it over the phone, Neg. on the last day of the month. That is when you will get the best price. take the 36/100,000 all of the warr. have a 100,000 mile linit, but the 3 extra years is the most important.

I believe I mentioned this on the other thread that was cited earlier as well as some others, but I too bought an '08 320 at a negotiated price, and my dealer gave me the option of a MB ext. warr. or one from a third party. I bought the third party which gives me a total of 7 yrs. 70,000 mi. w/$100 deductible for $2,400, and tire/wheel coverage and dent coverage for an additional $350 each.

 

Where did you get the third party insurance from and can you use the dealer to service the car or do you have to go somewhere else?

 

I was going to use this warranty company on my E-class if I hadn't traded it. They have good rates on policies for varying mileage, varying deductibles, and various times. They also require work to be done by a MB dealer.

The extended warranty is through CNA National Warranty Corp. and can be honored at any MB dealer in the U.S..

 

OrthoDoc, read that other thread. My dealer says they stopped selling MB warranty because of the fine print. I bought a 3rd party warranty sold and serviced at my dealership.
