Mhi Bluetooth part #'s whats the difference between

B6 787 5839 and B6 787 5878?

i tried calling the dealership and they don't know.

i searched and the only thing i can find is it was updated to support more of the pda/smartphones. i have a sprint htc touch and i can get a deal on the older one.

but before i purchase, i want to know was that the only update? or was there something else? anyone know?

Can I ask what phone you have? I would say if your phone is 2007 or newer, then you should get the latest bluetooth puck. I have an iphone and the newer one recognizes the phone and allows the address book to integrate. Also, if you think you may be purchasing a new phone anytime soon, then get the latest puck.

How much savings are you talking about between the two? I purchased mine thru Ebay and was able to pay $300+shipping.

The 5878 is the latest part number with updated software to suport more phones -- do not know exactly whihc ones. If purchasing outside of the dealership (eg ebay) you should find the pricing to be similar for both so suggest getting the lates. I recently purchased mine from ebay for $305

i have a sprint htc touch. i would be getting the older one for $75 compared to the 300 + shipping you paid on ebay which i was looking at as well.

i just tried the older one, and it does pair up and i can make calls. signal strength is present and working. but the phone book does not sync.

tried jetware 1.31 demo and it still didn't work to sync up the phone book.

btw,

even if i get the newer one... my phone book contacts still wouldn't sync up right? since the updated one is just supposed to work with more phones?

i called some of my local dealers and they will not let me test it out. i have to buy first and if it doesn't work, pay a 15% restocking fee.

Address book sync can take quite a while. Also, check your phone's BT settings to make sure Address Book transfer is not disabled. On some phones, like my BB 8830, this has to be explicitly enabled. HTH.

thanks. i have a htc touch and don't think we have an option like that.

also, when you say can take a while... how long are we talking? 2 mins? 5 mins or more?

i was in the car for 10 mins and the phone book softkey was present, just not highlighted so i couldn't press it.

That would depend on how many contacts you have, I believe. My first time, it took 10/15 min (sorry, don't remember exactly) and I have close to 200 entries.

I would say give at least 15 min and see if it helps. Else it may be that you have a phone which will not download the address book

i have 60 contacts in my phone, but i think i'm in the group which doesn't get the phone book to sync. bummer.

but for 75 bucks, i think i'm just going to pick it up. i haven't seen a used one that cheap before.
