Essentially their conclusion was that less is more and they preferred the 450 or 320 to the 550 saying the extra power was superfluous in a large SUV. While my 450 does not feel underpowered, it seems to me that a 2 second advantage in 0-100 run would be a substantial plus for the 550. However I was surprised that their 450 got 20% better mileage than the 550. I would have thought that mpg would be very close. MY GL has averaged 17.6 mpg over 5000 miles of mixed driving. I thought a 550 would be in that range if driven similarly.
