When's too late to change order?
I have an 08 GL320 on order that the dealer said has a build date of March 11. I received a NetStar print out today and it showed a $2100 leather package that was not in the previous copies. We do not want the leather package. The dealer claimed that it may be too late to change the order.
Is the dealer being honest and what are my options?

I usually pre-order cars and thus far always have had some form of invoice and/or netstar printout at the time. That said, I assume you may have a similar copy in hand. If this is the case and the Leather package was not listed, under no circumstances should you feel obliged to complete the sale. Technically speaking, you could walk away from this transaction at any time prior to accepting delivery. Ultimately, the best solution assuming you have supporting documentation would be to negotiate a significant discount on the package. Having the leather interior will not hurt you on the resale side of the equation either.

Although I agree with emayer on trying to negotiate a discount on the vehicle you did not order, you have to balance the demand for the 320 vs. the price you originally settled on. In my neck of the woods, 320's are going for list as the appeal of the MPG swings demand away from the gas to the diesel variant. The # of diesels being produced is lower than gas, as there is a higher operating margin on diesels in Europe vs North America (somewhat influenced by the weakness of the USD). Reconsider the leather package, unless it will blow your budget. I gave up pleather for leather, and it added another 3 months to my wait. BTW - I'm glad I did.
