hi
I have an S320, OM642.930 engine. I had to remove the airbox to get at the sensor, then just by feel i had to remove the shield, think it was a 1/4" torx head.
once i had the sheid out i removed an other 1/4" screw for the sensor, I just loosened the screw so the sensor was still in place, while the sensor was inplace i removed the connector, its just a clip on connection, mine came off pretty easily with a bit of fiddling.
then i loosened the retaining screw and removed the sensor,
Because space was so tight with my engine, I put the new sensor in secured it and fitted the connection and I abandoned the shield, and car hasnt cut out since.
I cant tell you exactly what the connection looks like because I never seen it, only by feel,
Its an akward job but quick and easy repair.

It would be wise to confirm that the CPS configuration on the GL550 gasser is similar to that on the CDI. Most gassers and diesels don't have much resemblance to each other in the way parts are stuck on.

Just checked. with the shield in the way the space is too tight. I can just get one finger to touch the connector and can not release it from CPS.

A bad update.
I finally got the CPS replaced, but no fix. The truck is with dealer now they are suspecting fuel line and doing more diagnostic.
The sensor bought online is OE part. Is there something to do with a non-dealer part? wondering.

2007 GL450
I posted a thread on "sudden death" for my GL450. Turned out it was the Front SAM ("signal acquisition module"). That's a computer.

Get back from dealer they are pretty sure it's fuel pump, $1800 to replace including diagnostic.
I'm not so sure to get it replaced. If it's fuel pump the fuel pressure sensor should tell, right? And when it happened last time I pulled the truck off , switch to neutral the engine could go to 3000rmp, but once into D the engine is hesitate to move.
What if replacing fuel pump still not a fix? Any one has experience with dealer in such situation?

Is there a code for fuel pump failure? I know 320CDI would throw code for pump fail, but not sure gas model. From alldatadiy there is no fuel rail pressure sensor in gas model. anyone?

2017 GLS 550
I have had my GLS x 4 months. On two occasions, when I was stopped at a light (ecosmart ON so my engine was off), the car would not restart. It happened at about 1,000 miles then again at 7,000 miles. I could not shift gears and move to park. I was at a stoplight and had to turn my hazards on. Cars were honking like crazy thinking I did not see the green light.
I turned the car off 2-3 times and restarted it. Finally, I was able to change from Park to Drive and get moving..
Any suggestions?

2010 GL 550 Cutting Off
I'm a newbie to this board but I saw this thread and had to comment. I had the same thing happen, my 2007 GL 450 has 56k miles and it stopped (just fell dead) 4 times in one day. 3 times I put it in neutral and started while it was still rolling, the 4th time I was in an intersection and it didn't start immediately, after a few frantic moments it started and I parked it and had it flatbedded to MB dealer. I'm supposed to get it back tomorrow. Will let you know what they said....
sorry if I missed this but did you ever solve this issue? I have a 2010 GL550 and my truck is doing the same. Took it to the mechanic (twice) and they said they can not find anything. Obviously it’s something. Wondering what the issue is. Thanks in advance to any feedback you have.

If your have any keys attached to your ignition key, remove them. Mine was caused by my ignition key momentarily losing contact from the weight if the other keys and that cut the car off. If you have keyless go, this is not your issue
