Both BMW and VW are using very similar systems.

BMW, Audi and MB are all using the same treatment for their 09' diesels. Honda has a 4-cylinder Accord diesel that doesn't use this treatment, it should arrive sometime next year. So far I haven't seen a 6-cylinder or a V8 without adblue/bluetec technology. Honda and Nissan are working on V6s that won't need the same type of treatment, but they are some years off. Currently.

The ADS button has never used the abbreviation "C/S" it has always used "Comf / Sport"
The "C/S" button found in pass cars used to be "W/S" and is solely for the transmission.

There are three settings for ADS: Comfort, Automatic and Sport.

The first DVD player is in the head unit which can hold CD/DVD's at a time.
The second DVD player is located behind the front center console above the 12v outlet on the floor. It pulls open so a DVD can easily be dropped down into it.
There is no longer a player underneath the right 2nd row passenger seat. That space is now reserved for empty water bottles, loose change and the occasional french fry

NJ you are right again; the "Fake" Monroney you get at the auto show is a generalization for MY2009. It was printed a month ago prior to final options and pricing. This is why you wont see pricing or packaging (as a rule)
The car you see at the Auto show was ordered last summer (way before finalization) and built in December as a "Test" vehicle. None of those cars will be sold to the public. In fact, MY 2010 cars are now being planned and ordered for the 2009 NYIAS.

Thanks, Fahrer, for the explanations. So, if I get it right, then the head unit player can hold 6 CDs and 1 DVD?

AdBlue doesn't reduce HP ratings. MB is adopting the new SAE ratings in which all car makes (from all manufacturers) have gone down. Look at Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus. Honda was the 1st to adopt the new SAE standards a while back.

No one said AdBlue reduces HP. In this case, the addition of the SCR catalytic converter for BlueTEC SUV's reduces the 320's HP by 5.
This has nothing to do with any change in SAE ratings.

Sorry, I actually meant that the new paddles would get in the way of sight lines of the other controls. Just don't care for them sticking up when the toggle versions on the back of the steering wheel seemed fine.

Looks like the stainless steel rear bumper plate will be standard on the 2009 GLs according to the pic. I hope so.

Don't base standard or optional items on the new GL's by the car show models. Wait for the spec's to be posted on MBUSA web site.

Right again NJ. The NYIAS car is not the Standard car.
Skid plates are only standard on the GL550 and optional on the others.

Finally! A place for all the fries I drop.

Really glad to see MB relocate the player underneath the 2nd row seat.

Do you guys think the new Electronics for the 2009 GLs will get rid of the need for the MHI blue tooth puck? I hope so. I would certainly hope they some how integrated it into the nav system.

They are - it's called the S400, and it's a V6 Bluetec with hybrid drive technology as well. They're estimating ~40mpg (I'm assuming that's city mileage, where hybrids thrive). It's slated for ... was it 2010?
