Drivers side seat moving/shifting around
Kind of an unusual question, has anyone else noticed their seat moving / shifting around and hearing popping sounds (due to the seat moving) when cornering or going over bumps? My seat is not loose (it is bolted to the floorboard) but the seat rubs against the casing and shifts as I'm driving. It is an uncomfortable feeling...
Of course I've had it in 3 times to the dealership and they can't fix it...Wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I haven't felt the seat move when I am driving but mine did have some groaning/creaking sounds due to the frame not being tight or something. There is an old TSB on this too and dealer fixed mine by taking seat leather/padding/etc. off and then put some felt on the frame which removed the noise.

I don't have it in the front seat, but the driver's side middle seat has it on the part that folds up, if you push on it (sitting down or leaning on it to get something from the other side of the car). I just thought it meant I need to lose weight. Maybe I should mention it on my Svc B?

Ha ha - I thought the same thing about losing weight when I noticed it - evidently we are on the same page here...
Thanks for the heads up on the service bulletin - I'll mention it next time I get my service...
FYI, just got Service A done - 10K miles and going strong - this is a great truck!

I fixed it
After reading that others had the same issue and that Nish had this fixed by his dealer, I took the seat off and padded the area where the metal frame touches the seat.
There are two bolts on the front of the seat which come off easily, and clips on the left side which enable the lower portion of the seat to be lifted off the metal frame. I took an old hand towel and cut a strip that matched the length of the frame (there is a metal bar along the back of the seat) and put it between the seat and the frame and then bolted everything back down.
It is fixed, which is good 'cause it was driving me nuts. I'm terrible with tools and it only took 15 minutes.

I am having the same groaning sound, only it is the right front seat, can you be a little more specific, where are the two bolts that hold on the lower seat ? are they under the forward lip? and the clips? I am going to take it off tomorrow.
Thank you
Thank you

I don't think MB can fix this.

Under the front seats, toward the front of the seat are two screws that hold C shaped clip braces which hold the seat to the to the front metal bar (frame) of the seat. These can be unscrewed easily and the C shaped clip will come off (when putting back in note there is a tab that one end of the clip goes back into). After those are off you should be able to move the seat back all the way down and this will enable you to lift the seat bottom off the metal frame a few inches (you may have to unclip a few clips from the side where the seat memory buttons are). From there you can pad where the seat rubs up against the metal frame, causing the popping and shifting. I cut a towel to fit the other metal bar areas and that extra insulation is now between the seat and the metal frame, and has solved my little problem (which was driving me crazy...)
As for the groaning noises from the passenger seats, very few service advisors can assist, but I've used a good lawyer in the past to fix that

Here's what's stopped it; I start by full depression of the gas pedal for 15 seconds, then full depression of the brake pedal for 5. Repeat as necessary; I find about 8 times helps. More than that and you're showing off.

At a stoplight accelerate from a dead stop by depressing the gas pedal to the floor. The noise in the right seat will cease since the ability to groan has been totally lost due to no air supply and compression against the seat back. Extend the flaps before applying brakes.
Not recommended more than one time and you may need that lawyer Wigwam mentioned.

A rapid, firm and complete depression of the accelerator pedal for about 15 minutes should do the trick. To ensure success, open all the windows and find a road with a lot of curves, blind corners, a few good camelbacks, that kind of thing.
To really quiet it down, pretend to close your eyes. Or really do it, if that's how you roll!

I didn't have any groaning from the passenger seat but it is 82 degrees here today (absolutely beautiful) and I opened the sunroof and third row windows. I found a nice straight road and from a stop sign floored it. Oh my goodness, what a sweet sound from that V8+![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
When it shifted at 3000 and then about 4200 RPM it was all I could do to let up on the gas...
The tone was just so macho and powerful...
I calmed down and had lunch...on the way home it was drag races from every stop sign![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

This monster need no after market tuned exhaust...just wide open spaces and a good empty road to show it's class....![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Also won $500 at lunch to pay for the gas I'll be using in weeks to come...
