Front License Plate Options

Is anyone aware of any options for mounting the front license plate on a GL other than the factory holder? I would like to avoid drilling holes in the front bumper if possible. Being from a state that requires a front plate, and being in the job I am, I guess I need to mount one, even though I don't care to. It looks as though something could be fabricated to use the skid plate mounting screws, but before I start to do something, just wondered if anyone has already addressed the issue. Thanks.

I know you are asking for GL related responses, But i had the same problem with my car.

I went with a solution using my front tow hook hole to mount my plate on. Just be careful of the parktronic, if you have that.

Doesn't that cause the plate to be off center? That would bother me more than the drilling of holes.

I would just drill the holes, and then purchase some 'bumperplugs.com' to cover the holes when you don't need the plate.

Yes , the plate is off center. Doesnt bother me a bit. Whats nice is that i can go to a car show, remove my plate in 2 mins , throw it in the trunk, put the cover back on and i'm plateless.

Why not just leave the plate off? this prevents me from getting the front windshield tint ticket, and a few others.

OMG... You Just made me one of the happiest person with 'bumberplugs.com'. My wife is going to kill me but i can't wait to order them for my 08 GL450 and 07 E350. You don't even understand how stoked i am... Virginia requires front license plate but oh well.. bumperplugs made my night. Can't wait to make the GL look beast with no plate and the E with one of the best looking front ends look awesome.

Plugs

Got the plugs and are installed... Looks great perfect match just drilled a 1/4 hole and insert with no problem... Love it... Didn't work out so well with my E that had count them 6 holes drilled.. omg.. so could not plug them all. heading for 20% tint all the way around tomorrow morning...

thanks,
