Memory Loss on Nav
After a routine stop on a recent road trip, got back in the GL and turned it on. Went to NAV to navigate back to my pre-programmed "Home" destination in memory, and noticed that the NAV system had somehow reset itself and deleted my "Home" destination as well as all the other previous destinations. Has anyone else experienced this? And any ideas re cause? Wonder if I somehow did it by accident....

It used to happen to us all the time on our 2007 GL450. We could never be sure if the "home" information was saved or not and never could figure out why or when is would get erased. Just accepted it as an annoying glitch. It was not related to any electrical problems for us.
In our 2008 GL320 it has not happen yet. The "home" information has stayed memorized.

In my ML this happened about a year ago. One day, hit the NAV button to go to a restaurant and there was nothing in memory. Not a thing. Home, everything was gone. Had to sit there one day and re enter EVERY SINGLE ADDRESS. (The Command joystick was a bad Benz idea.
)
Dealer claimed to have never heard of it. Diagnostics checked out fine. When I asked on the forum, a two or three other ML owners had it happen also.
No known fix as yet. I think the NAV battery/capacitor backup might bad?
I have never had an issue with my main battery or any other electrical problems.
If your dealer finds an issue or fix, please post.

This just happened to me again. The memory cleared and all data lost. Entered one desitination which was lost next time I started car, so it looks like teh NAV can no longer hold data. Not sure if its related but I noticed that the four red lights on the parktronic LEDs go on intermittently when I am coming to a stop/stopped but there is nothing close by.... time to take it in I guess.

It has happened to my 2008 ML320 CDI two times. No correlation with service or other battery/ electrical failures. Re-entering data works but painful.

Aux Battery and Nav Memory Loss
I tested the aux battery (disconnected) and found it had about 13 volts. I did buy a new aux battery, but did not install since the voltage looked good. Is there an easy way to get the battery into the small area without removing the big main battery?
